WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Voters have kept Republican Rick Catlin in the NC House District 20 seat with 62 percent of the vote.
The vote, versus Democratic challenger Betsy Jordan, was 16,722 to 10,172 in favor of Catlin.
During the campaign, Catlin expressed his views toward film incentives in North Carolina.
"That's not the way to do business," said Rep. Catlin. "The way to do business is to try to find ways that work for the whole state."
Election Night, Catlin continued the discussion about the film industry in the area.
"I voted to extend it, so we would have a year to study it and find a sustainable solution. And it did not pass the Senate, and when we go back, we're going to have to continue to look for a solution. I've done some research on some ideas to make it much better," Catlin said.
Catlin did campaign, however, on his support for public education.
"Since the Republicans have been in charge we have raised public education funding by almost a billion dollars," Catlin said.
